Res24Seven was started in 2005 as a direct result of a need by www.mtbeds.co.za to have access to live inventory to best be able to offer last minute rates at accommodation establishments. As the system developed it became obvious that there was a need throughout the tourism industry for access to live accommodation inventory in Southern Africa. The scope of Res24Seven was therefore broadened to encompass the needs of all the sales and distribution channels in the tourism industry and Res24Sevn became a far more complex and complete solution; allowing for different rates and rules per sales channels and offering various methods of interfacing with the system.
In December 2008, after being a client of Res24Seven for 18 months, Comair LTD, a listed entity on the Johannesburg stock exchange and a franchise partner with British Airways which also owns and operates kulula.com, purchased Res24Seven. This acquisition has resulted in rapid growth of Res24Seven, which now has access to live inventory at over 2000 accommodation establishments in Southern Africa.
